F v F
Oana acted for a Father in children and injunction proceedings following a history of domestic abuse perpetrated by the Mother towards both the Father and the children. The nature of the abuse required an urgent application for a Non-Molestation and Occupation Orders, as well as Prohibited Steps Order and Chid Arrangements Order to ensure the safety of the Father and the children. Due to the coercive control that the children were subjected to, it was extremely difficult to ascertain and understand their true wishes and feelings. The nature of the proceedings and the allegations of abuse that the children were subjected to required further involvement from two local authorities and the possibility of care proceedings being issued. Due to the abuse suffered, the Father was allowed to remain in the matrimonial home, in spite of this being owned jointly by the parties, and the children were placed in the Father’s care, in the interim, with the Mother being allowed only indirect supervised contact.
N v H
Oana represented a Mother in complex children proceedings concerning a 6 year old child who was opposing contact with her Father. The parties’ relationship broke down after the Father was radicalised and Counter Terrorism Forces became involved following threats and alarming statements made by the Father. The complexity of the case arose from the disputes surrounding allegations of rape made by the Mother, as well as a significant risk to the child involving Female Genital Mutilation in the situation that the child was to be removed by the Father to the Gambia. Due to the strong opposition of the child towards having contact with the Father, the Court appointed a Guardian to represent the child throughout the proceedings. The matter is ongoing.
