What is the CICA Scheme

Requirements for claiming compensation under the CICA Scheme

In order to qualify for an award under the Criminal Injuries Compensation (CICA) Scheme you must meet the following criteria:

The incident must have been reported to the Police within 48 hours or as soon as reasonably possible.
Your injuries are serious enough to meet the minimum award of £1000 – we can assess this for you in our initial discussion
The incident must have happened within the last two years
The incident must have occurred in England or Wales
You must have no unspent criminal convictions other than driving offences
