IMD Solicitors Shortlisted in 7 Categories at the Modern Law Awards 2026

IMD Solicitors has been shortlisted in seven categories at the Modern Law Awards 2026 — the highest number achieved by any UK law firm this year.

This places the firm among the most recognised organisations in this year’s shortlist, alongside established national firms such as Irwin Mitchell and HCC Solicitors, which each received six nominations.

Recognition Across the Firm

IMD Solicitors has been shortlisted in the following categories:

  • Law Firm of the Year (Small)
  • International Law Firm of the Year
  • Family Team of the Year
  • Company Culture
  • Client Care (0–100 Employees)
  • Business Growth Award
  • Rising Star of the Year – Aleksandra Jankowska

The breadth of these nominations is particularly significant. Rather than recognising a single team or specialism, they reflect the strength of the firm as a whole — from legal expertise and complex cross-border work, to client experience, internal culture, and the way the business continues to develop.

A Year of Progress

The shortlist reflects a period of sustained progress for IMD Solicitors.

Over the past year, the firm has continued to strengthen its position as a boutique practice specialising in international and cross-border matters, acting for clients whose lives, businesses, and assets span multiple jurisdictions. This work often involves complex legal frameworks, coordination across different countries, and supporting clients through high-stakes and sensitive situations.

At the same time, the firm has continued to invest in its internal structure and culture. This includes developing a working environment that supports both performance and wellbeing, strengthening collaboration across teams, and ensuring that clients continue to receive responsive and personalised support.

The nominations also reflect the contribution of individuals within the firm, including early-career professionals who are already making a meaningful impact, as recognised by the Rising Star nomination for Aleksandra Jankowska.

What Sits Behind the Submissions

Each submission to the Modern Law Awards is supported by detailed evidence of work carried out over the qualifying period.

For IMD Solicitors, this included examples of complex international cases, client outcomes in challenging circumstances, and initiatives designed to improve both client experience and team wellbeing. The submissions also highlighted the firm’s approach to building a collaborative and inclusive culture, alongside its continued growth and development as a business.

Taken together, these elements provide a broader picture of how the firm operates — combining technical legal expertise with a strong focus on people, both within the team and among its clients.

Building on a Successful 2025

The 2026 shortlist follows a highly successful year for IMD Solicitors.

In 2025, the firm was shortlisted in five categories and received two awards:

  • Managing Partner of the Year, jointly awarded to Marcin Durlak and Iwona Durlak
  • Workplace Wellbeing Award

The increase to seven nominations this year reflects continued progress and growing recognition of the firm’s approach.

A Team Achievement

Commenting on the shortlist, Managing Partner Marcin Durlak said:

“Being shortlisted in seven categories — and across such a wide range of areas — is a strong reflection of the work our team delivers every day.

What matters most to me is not just the number, but the balance. These nominations recognise legal quality, client care, culture, and the way we are developing the firm. That combination is not easy to achieve.

I am also very pleased to see Aleksandra Jankowska recognised with a Rising Star nomination. It is very well deserved and reflects both the quality of her work and the initiative she has shown.

This is a team achievement, and I am grateful to everyone at IMD for the professionalism, commitment and consistency behind it.”

Looking Ahead

The winners of the Modern Law Awards 2026 will be announced at the awards ceremony on 29 April 2026.

Regardless of the outcome, the shortlist represents an important milestone for the firm and further recognition of the direction it continues to build — combining specialist international expertise with a strong focus on client service and team culture.
