Rape

Rape is defined under section 1 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 as  intentional  penetration of another person’s  vagina, anus or mouth of another person with his penis and the other person does not consent  to the penetration and  he does not reasonably believe that the other person consents.

Rape is an indictable only offence. This means that the case will be heard in the Crown Court.  It is important that you receive the right advice and representation as the conviction for rape carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

Indecent images

There are three categories of indecent images as outlined in the Sexual Offences Definitive Guideline and these are:

• Category A: images involving penetrative sexual activity including animals and sadism
• Category B: images involving non – penetrative sexual activity
• Category C: images involving erotic posing

Many people are not aware that being in possesion of indecent images on their computer, laptop or mobile phone is a criminal offence.
