Irina Matasa

Irina Mihaela Matasa is a Legal Assistant in the Family Department at IMD Solicitors LLP. She supports clients across a broad range of family law matters, with particular experience assisting on divorce, financial remedy and international family cases. Her multilingual capabilities in Romanian, Italian and English enable her to provide effective support to clients from diverse backgrounds and help ensure clear communication throughout the legal process.

Irina joined IMD Solicitors in early 2023, initially working within the firm’s First Response Team, where she developed extensive experience managing client enquiries and providing support to individuals seeking legal assistance. This experience gave her a strong understanding of client needs and the importance of responsive, accessible and compassionate communication from the very first point of contact.

Before joining IMD, Irina built a successful legal career spanning more than ten years in the notarial legal sector in Romania. Working as a paralegal within the notarial field, she gained extensive experience across civil and family law matters, developing strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a practical understanding of legal procedures and client care.

Today, Irina supports clients through what is often one of the most challenging periods of their lives. She regularly assists on divorce and financial remedy matters, international and cross-border family issues, and cases involving Romanian-speaking clients requiring legal support in their native language. Her cultural understanding and language skills help clients feel understood and supported throughout their legal journey.

Clients value Irina’s responsiveness, empathy, organisation and clear communication. She understands that family law matters can feel overwhelming and adopts a client-focused approach centred on transparency, reassurance and practical support. By maintaining open communication and ensuring clients remain informed at every stage, she helps make the legal process as clear and manageable as possible.

Irina completed her Law Degree at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași, Romania, graduating in 2010. She subsequently completed a Master’s Degree in Business Law at the same university between 2011 and 2013.

Outside of work, Irina is an active member of IMD’s Social Committee. She enjoys spending time in nature and challenging herself by reaching some of the highest mountain peaks, reflecting the determination and commitment she brings to both her professional and personal life.
