Its Corporate & Commercial practice initially entered the guide as a Firm to Watch, progressed to Tier 5, and has now risen directly to Tier 3 in the Manchester Corporate & Commercial rankings.
The latest ranking places IMD alongside a number of long-established national and international firms.

Commercial Litigation enters the rankings at Tier 4
IMD Solicitors has also achieved its first full Legal 500 ranking for Commercial Litigation in Manchester.
The practice was previously recognised as a Firm to Watch. In the 2027 guide, it has entered the main rankings directly at Tier 4, above the lowest ranking tier.
The Commercial Litigation team advises businesses, shareholders, directors and individuals on complex commercial disputes, often involving international parties, assets or proceedings.
Its work includes contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, international arbitration, construction disputes, insolvency and director claims, fraud-related litigation and cross-border enforcement issues.
The new ranking reflects the increasing complexity and value of the disputes being handled by the team and IMD’s growing reputation for international commercial litigation.

Continued Legal 500 recognition for international family law
IMD Solicitors’ Family team remains ranked Tier 4.
Family was one of the first IMD practices recognised by the Legal 500 and has developed into one of the firm’s largest specialist teams.
The practice has a particular focus on international and cross-border family law, including international divorce, complex financial remedy proceedings, international children disputes, relocation cases, child abduction, jurisdiction disputes and matters involving assets or proceedings in several countries.
The team regularly works alongside lawyers and other professionals in overseas jurisdictions where families, children, businesses or assets cross national borders.

Three years of Legal 500 progression
The 2027 results are particularly significant when viewed against IMD Solicitors’ relatively short history in the directory.
Just two years ago, Corporate & Commercial and Family first entered the Legal 500 as Firms to Watch. Last year, Corporate & Commercial progressed to Tier 5 and Family to Tier 4, while Commercial Litigation entered as a Firm to Watch.
